Timaru and the surrounding district have a good spread of parks, reserves and natural areas, from the manicured grounds of the Timaru Botanic Gardens and Trevor Griffiths Rose Garden to the wilder edges of the Otipua Wetlands and Washdyke Lagoon Wildlife Refuge. Centennial Park is the city’s main green space, with walking tracks, native bush and a stream, while the Geraldine, Temuka and Pleasant Point domains are worth visiting too.
