What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the college is a Te Ara Huarau School Profile Report from June 2023. ERO and the college agreed to evaluate how well its own self-review supports the practices that lead to strong and fair results in national qualifications, with the aim of lifting achievement in Years 7 to 9 and in NCEA.

ERO found teachers keen to improve and enthusiastic about curriculum development, leaders and teachers taking part in professional learning, and a shared commitment across the school to growing staff capability.

The college’s priorities are to put in place a local curriculum shaped by the hopes of students and whānau, keep asking them how well that curriculum supports belonging and engagement, and strengthen how progress is planned for, taught, assessed and reported across the school.

Enrolling

Students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol, and in-zone applications are accepted at any time. Out-of-zone places are offered under the enrolment scheme, by ballot when there are more applicants than places. The college publishes its out-of-zone places and ballot dates on its enrolment page each year.

Families can enrol online or on a paper form, with a birth certificate or passport and proof of address. The college encourages families to visit, and an enrolment interview and tour can be arranged through the school office.
