What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from November 2025. ERO found success and progress rising for all students, with good teaching lifting results in reading, writing and maths.

Most students meet or exceed the expected curriculum level in writing and maths and a large majority do in reading, and the school is meeting the Government’s writing and maths targets.

Students with complex needs are well supported, structured literacy is in place in the junior school, and staff work closely together to reflect on and improve their teaching. Attendance is the clear concern: fewer than half of students attend regularly, well short of the Government target, although the school has a plan and attendance is improving.

The key priorities are to carry out the attendance plan, raise boys’ achievement in writing, set up consistent systems so learning carries on smoothly as students move up through the year levels, make better use of data to set and measure goals, and strengthen culturally responsive practice. The school also agrees that meeting the Government’s reading targets needs to be a main focus.

Enrolling

Students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol. Out-of-zone places are offered under the enrolment scheme, by ballot when there are more applicants than places. The school’s enrolment page links to its enrolment scheme, zone map and out-of-zone enrolment information.

Children can start once they turn five. Families can fill in the enrolment form online and make an appointment with the principal to complete the health and enrolment forms, and a transition programme lets children visit once a week in the weeks before they start.
