What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from March 2025. ERO found good quality teaching that is improving progress in reading, writing and maths.

A large majority of students meet or exceed the expected level in reading, most do in writing and maths, and results across groups are equal in maths and becoming more equal in reading and writing.

Students with complex needs are well supported, students are engaged and feel they belong, and leaders use data well to set and track goals. The school was an early adopter of structured literacy and is planning a structured maths programme.

ERO also noted that regular attendance is below the Ministry target, though it is improving under the school’s plan, and that progress for the students most at risk of not achieving had improved only to some extent since the last review.

The agreed next steps are to make more use of the student management system to track progress and share it with families, embed te ao Māori further across the curriculum and school culture, keep lifting achievement, particularly in reading, and keep working to raise regular attendance and reduce chronic absence.
