About

U-Bake Bakery is on Hilton Highway in Washdyke, Timaru, and is owned by baker Simon Bruce. Everything is baked fresh daily in store, from traditional sourdough and grain loaves to pies, doughnuts, slices and biscuits, along with a rewena loaf, the traditional Māori potato sourdough. Its hot cross buns won the Great NZ Hot Cross Bun competition in 2018, and the bakery trains its own apprentice bakers. It suits locals picking up the day's bread, workers grabbing a pie on the way through Washdyke, and anyone ordering a box of treats for morning tea.
