About the Library
Temuka Library is part of the Timaru District Libraries network, alongside the main Timaru branch on Sophia Street and the Geraldine Library on Talbot Street. Items borrowed at Temuka can be returned at any other branch in the network, and vice versa.
The library offers the full range of lending services — books, DVDs, audiobooks, e-books and digital magazines — alongside free computer and internet access through the Aotearoa People’s Network Kaharoa. Free WiFi is available throughout the building.
A Books4U service lets you call ahead and request items for collection, useful if you know what you’re after and want to avoid a wasted trip.
Council Services and JP
The Temuka Library doubles as a Timaru District Council service centre, where you can pay rates, submit council applications and access a range of council services in person. A Justice of the Peace is available on Saturday mornings from 10am to 12 noon — useful for witnessing documents, certifying copies or statutory declarations.
Children’s Services
Storytime and Craft runs on Wednesdays from 10:30am to 11:30am — a free weekly session for young children and their caregivers. The library’s children’s section has a range of picture books, early readers and junior fiction.
