About the Skate Park

The Caroline Bay Skate Park is part of the broader CPlay facility — a $3 million community project completed in December 2023, funded through community contributions, grants and council support. The entire playground complex covers 16,288 square metres, making it one of the largest outdoor play spaces in New Zealand at the time it was built.

The skate park is suitable for skateboarders and scooter riders across a range of ability levels, sitting alongside the bike skills park in the recreation zone of the complex. The wider CPlay area caters to all ages, from the paddling pool for young children to the courts and skate facilities for older kids and teens.

Caroline Bay

Caroline Bay is Timaru’s main recreation reserve — a sheltered bay with a beach, playground, miniature railway, rose garden and views to the Port of Timaru. The CPlay complex and skate park sit within this broader reserve, making Caroline Bay one of the most complete outdoor recreation destinations in South Canterbury.
